white fair the carpets for the home In an open space, but also in a traditional living room, the carpet defines the different areas into which you want to divide the room.In the living room, there could be the dining table area and the conversation area, the one with the sofas.
In each case, the variables to be taken into consideration are the size and orientation of the carpet, relative to the room, and the size of the carpet relative to the furniture.
It may seem complicated, but we can simplify the rules for choosing the right size for the carpet, This has a very pleasant effect immediately, which will not lead to future regrets.
The carpet and the room to be furnished
The carpet should reflect the orientation of the room.In a rectangular surface, it will therefore develop in the same direction, maintaining the proportions of the area delimiting it.
This applies if a carpet is placed in the centre of the space.
If, on the other hand, it is used to delimit an area in a much larger space, the textile will create a visual boundary for the area indicated.

To choose the right size for the carpet, In addition, it should be considered, first of all, to always leave a minimum distance from the wall, which should be as equal on each side as possible, and about 60 cm.If the size of the room does not allow it, you can even go 45 cm without spoiling the scenic effect. In short, it is always a question of proportions, but you can never go below 20 cm from the wall if you don't want to run into the carpet effect.
An exception is the case where the sofa is leaning against a wall. In this case, the carpet may be placed from the middle of the seat.
The most glaring mistake one can make is to take carpets that are too small for the room, reducing them to small, insignificant “spots” on the floor. Even here there is an exception, which we recount at the end of this post.
How big should the carpet be, compared to the furniture it contains?
The optimal solution is when the carpet completely contains the furniture, i.e. when all the furniture sits comfortably on top of the carpet. If this is not possible, larger items (such as armchairs and sofas) are only allowed to be on the carpet with their front legs, while the rear legs, which do not fall into the view of the person entering, may remain off the carpet.
For smaller pieces of furniture, such as tables or chairs, on the other hand, there are no exceptions to the basic rule: they must be well centred on the carpet.
When assessing the size of this, it must be borne in mind that a space of 60 to 90 cm must be left between the various pieces of furniture, to avoid the storage effect, i.e. indiscriminate accumulation of elements, on which one will fatally stumble at every turn.
The same rule should also be considered under the dining table: the carpet should be large enough to hold the chairs even when they are moved away from the table, e.g. to allow guests to sit down.

Tricks of the trade
Before proceeding with the purchase of a carpet, In order not to run into mistakes and consequent regrets, there is a very simple and straightforward system for assessing whether and how to be sure that you have chosen the right sized carpet for the room and furniture. All we have to do is mark the perimeter of our new carpet with paper tape, and evaluate with our own eyes the effect it makes.
If we are also thinking of moving furniture, we can create templates corresponding to the surface of each item with old newspapers, so that we can move them effortlessly around the room.
Only once the optimal solution has been found will we move on to the actual moving of the heavy items. Finally, here is a suggestion for “saving” a too-small carpet to be the perfect one for our room. It may be a piece that we are fond of, or one of rare beauty or value, so we will not be able to resist incorporating it into our interior design.
A choice of the heart allows us to break the rules taxes, through a double trick. We can locate a smaller piece of furniture, such as a coffee table or a bench, and place it on top of our carpet, respecting the classical proportions, thus enhancing both elements.
Or we could superimpose the smaller carpet on a larger, less valuable one, reserving it the central position, while the bottom would respect the standards listed above.
