fair of white carpets for the home It defines the zones of a room, adds warmth and gives the final touch that amalgamates all the furnishing elements, making a room feel truly complete: the carpet is a fundamental element, and knowing how to choose the right one, particularly for the living room, is an art. This does not mean that expertly navigating through the offers will be the preserve of only a few.
There are some guidelines that will allow everyone to choosing the carpet best suited to one's needs, to find that quid that will make a difference to every room in the house.
Let's start with the fact that, more than any other piece of furniture, a carpet should never be just any object.
Here are a few starting points to make up your mind before choosing the carpet for your living room, or to rethink what is already part of your home décor, perhaps to change your mind and relocate some elements differently.

Statement furniture
Perhaps we are more familiar with the term “statement necklace”: it is an “important” necklace, with a distinct character, which catches the eye decisively, radically transforming a neutral outfit. The same concept can be applied to furniture.
The carpet can “steal the show” and become the centrepiece of the whole room.
To do this, let us consider starting with him, and locate all the rest of the furniture accordingly.
The carpet will define the colour palette on which to identify other textiles, objects and decorations.
If you already own a carpet, and love it particularly, you will have to calibrate the quantity and size of the furniture to it, to create a harmonious ambience.
If, on the other hand, you are considering buying a new carpet, you can be freer in balancing your desires with the fixed points that will be provided by other furnishings already present.

Renovating with colours, following trends
Although an important piece, a carpet is still a textile that can be easily changed, to refresh the look of the living room and indulge in following fashions, or your personal evolution. Are you tired of a classic house? A modern, abstractly designed carpet is enough to change the character of your living room.
Fatally, it will trigger a chain effect that will also affect the other elements in the room, but this will happen later.
Does a palette of neutral tones no longer reflect your taste? By daring an accent of colour, you can achieve a room that best responds to your desires of the moment.
Some people are quickly fascinated by the colour of the year, according to the dictates of the Pantone Institute which will go on to influence all the style choices (of fashion and interior design) of the months to follow, those who instead have a longer time frame and metabolise a palette only at a distance: well, when the right moment arrives, it is a case of indulging this propensity, even retrieving the fashion of a previous season.
Colours such as the violet of “Radiant Orchid”, the orangey pink of “Living Coral”, the warm “Chilli Pepper” or the intriguing “Blue Iris” enter deeply into the heart and details of the home, and stay there for more than one season.

Carpet and floor
The golden rule says that a carpet is not meant to cover a floor, even if you do not particularly like it.The carpet, on the other hand, serves to enhance all the elements of the room, including the floor, and must match it.
If a harmonious effect is desired, it is better to go along with the basic tone, opting for a similar background of the textile.
It does not have to be the same colour, but rather it must remain in the same family of tones, warm or cold.
A terracotta floor, or one with a yellow background (like a natural wood), or warm brown should induce a preference for a colour palette from beige to cream, through neutrals to stronger shades of red or brown.
A grey tile or bleached wood will bring out cold colours, from light grey to powder blue, and all shades of blue.
Of course, the opposite rule, that of contrast, can be enforced, which will give a boost to the total look of the room (and precisely for this reason should be carefully considered).

Functionality and use
The house is a place to live. Making aesthetic choices should in no way go against practicality. At least in our opinion. For every home there is the right carpet, and for every family too.
Taking into consideration the characteristics and habits of the people living in the house is a good start to a relationship between you and your carpet that will make both of you happy. In the entrance hall, which is the area of greatest passage, and often with unsuitable shoes inside, it will be appropriate to place robust mats and rugs, which will better resist wear and tear. For the living room, which will presumably be in a more private part of the house, we can afford more delicate materials, but always with some precaution.
It is easy to think that if there are children, some extra attention (on your part, certainly not the little ones) will be needed.
You cannot - and should not - prevent anyone from using the space in your home, and a satisfactory compromise can be reached by opting for carpets that are easy to clean and return to their original splendour.
The focus, in this case, will be on materials and carpet construction techniques, preferring less delicate and easier to handle objects.
Product labels, with all cleaning instructions, must be well interpreted and will save the day upstream.
If the family also includes “someone” on all fours, let us consider the side effect of the hair we will find on the floor every day and, to save cohabitation, rather “shorten the hair” of our carpet, even for the living room.
Can we carve out a conversation space that is not used on a daily basis, but only for special occasions (and guests)?
