Pastel shades for a colourful bathroom
DAPHNE > A BATH IN COLOUR, BUT PASTEL.
bathroom carpet pastel colours If we say “pastel colours” what comes to mind?
Let's face it, we may have thought of a child's bedroom, a doll's house, or those pastry shops of yesteryear that - in fact - also represented the sweet bon bon in their furnishings.
At most, we would have thought of a country house, English style (where the dominant pastel is sage green).
What do pastel colours inspire in us?
In fact, it is all true. These are the colour references in their most muted, white-laden versions, barely hinted nuances of dusty pigments, from candy pink to lilac, sage green, powder blue to aquamarine, salmon to dove grey to pearl grey.
They are the colours of spring, of lightness, but also of sophisticated taste and, in some ways, surprising with their simplicity.
It is precisely white, in fact, associated with purity, spirituality and openness, that lends a touch of understated elegance to pastel-coloured rooms.
If we associate them with the enchanted and carefree world of children, it is a short step to choosing them to decorate an environment that we would like to be relaxing, where time slows down and light plays with surfaces in a graceful and extremely pleasant way. A current trend, in fashion as in interior design, is precisely bringing these shades back into vogue, reinterpreting them in a glamorous key and freeing them from the tradition that wants them relegated to the world of childhood.
Pastel shades do not impose themselves as a burst of energy but, on the contrary, represent peace and serenity.
Perhaps that is why they are particularly appreciated in these difficult times, which invite us to manifest even our most delicate feelings, which we have all realised we need.
So, in addition to rooms, these shades also find their way into halls, showrooms and offices.
Harmony of colours with pastel shades
A pastel-coloured bathroom
At home, even if one does not want to be too daring, pastel colours triumph in the bathroom, for several reasons. In rooms that are usually cramped, light colours play a key role in visually enlarging the room.
If the walls are white, it will be easy, by playing with textiles, to add a subtle touch of colour, and transform the character and overall atmosphere of the room.
If, on the other hand, you have tired of the absolute white, and perhaps a little impersonal, one can customise wallsi, all or even just one, just with a slight tinge of colour.
In a different case (with tiles in a stronger tone, or decorated with patterns) an element can be inserted in the pastel colour derived from the dominant colour, as if one wanted to remain in tone, lightening that colour with white.
It also works for earth tones, from rust to brown to mustard yellow, as well as for classic green and blue.
The final effect will be lightened, and will give a nice idea of novelty.
In addition, a pastel atmosphere can be created by playing on different senses: by introducing a room fragrance with a flowery, sweet scent, or by amplifying the sense of softness with a pure cotton bath mat, which always gives an extraordinary feeling of cosiness.
